It's 11am on a Monday and caller ID pops up from the school. I'm dreading answering this one...
"Good morning this is the nurse at McB Elementary. Is this Xavier's mom?"
Yes it is.
"Xavier told his teacher that he forgot to take his meds this morning."
(He's on Adderall for ADHD)
Yes he did. Is it ok?
"Um. Can you please bring it down here so he can take it?"
Sure. I'm sending his dad. He'll be there in five.
"Thanks!"
Butch arrived to find Xav rolling around on the floor playing in the office. He was having a blast.
I'm just hoping he sleeps tonight. The meds calm him fantastically. The only side effect is that he doesn't sleep at night. We're going to try some melatonin and see if that helps...
