Hiring a 15 year old high school band geek smart ass to scrape rails for the summer as Butch's maintenance slacky.
He was hired to scrape a crap-ton of railing on our property so it could be painted.
He was told he can't use power tools because he is under the age of 18 and it's a liability.
He's also getting paid $9.50/hr to do it.
It's his first job.
And in this economy of so many being unemployed, he should appreciate every minute of it.
But (re-read line 2) and enough said...
Example of today's conversation between me & him:
Cedric, you're going to just have to continue scraping the rails. We can't let you use a pressure washer, because it's a power tool. And since you're under the age of 18, we can't have you using power tools.
How am I going to hurt myself with a pressure washer???
Cedric, it has a lot more force behind it than your realize.
Yes, but how am I going to hurt myself with a pressure washer?? I can hurt myself using a scraper for that matter!!
Yep - and you can hurt yourself by walking over your own to feet, or by sweeping the ground! You could keep being a smart ass and make today your last day too!
I didn't mean to be a smart what-you-said. Is there anything else I can use to scrape rails other than the scraper?
(And pissed off Cedric huffs outside...)
