Little Man cleaned the toilet with gusto! He found some elbow length mommy-size yellow gloves and stuck them right on. Took a rag and a spray bottle and had a ball! What's that? I missed a spot? I'll get it!! Splosh splash ... toilet water flying with gusto!
Sid was not so happy. I AM SWEEPING! I'M doing it MY WAY! As dirt goes flying. He was literally pushing it around the floor. NOT sweeping it with the broom... but PUSHING it!
The laundry room was fun. Little Man was throwing in the clothes and pouring in the laundry room with finesse. He had that cup full and overflowing.
Sid threw in one piece a long agonizing second at a time. Even managed to get a small walloping in the process when Mommy heard some threats he didn't mean to say out loud.
By the time we hit the dishes they had calmed down a bit. Little Man was climbing on the counters trying to put things away. Sid got the pleasure of loading them as I washed. Amazingly enough he not only understood how I neurotically instructed him to load it - but he did it the first time! He even put the silverware in right - without me telling him! The 15 year old couldn't even manage that one!
As a treat we went down and splashed around in the river! I might have looked like a cow out there - but I got right in there with them!
I often forget that kids don't care how we dress. When I'm busy feeling self conscious about looking all fat and nasty and out of shape and not having a cute hair day and definitely not giving a flying tar-heel about makeup that they DON'T CARE. They just want me to play with them. To throw them in. To get wet with them. To take pictures of them clowning around on a Sunday day.
It doesn't matter what the world thinks of me. What matters is what THEY think of me. They might poke my tummy and point out - Why Is It getting Bigger? But the truth is that they love me no matter what size I am!
